Image
Assalamualaikum and Hii Everyone !! This week class is focusing on the methods on how to measure the sustainable development. The most obvious one is by using the SDG goals. Those 17 goals have been explored in detail in order to achieve the sustainability. We are learning on each of the goals and their targets. It might be difficult at first to apply but then nothing is impossible for us. Anything can happen as long as we set our minds in it. Then, two question that arises when we want to apply the practice of sustainability which are what we want to be developed and what to be sustained. So, we can refer to this particular slide from our lecturer: Thus, sustainability can be achieved if people start to mention about this. One of the ways is by referring to the IIUM where they include the subject as the requirement in order to graduate. This step slowly can open people's eyes on how they view the world.  Thank you for reading my stories :))

ISLAMIC PERPSECTIVE

Assalamualaikum and Hii Everyone !! What I can relate this assessment with the Islamic Perspective is there is a verse from Surah Al-Mulk and Surah Al-Ahzab: Say to them: “He is Merciful, and it is in Him that we believe, and it is in Him that we put all our trust. 1  Soon will you know who is in manifest error.” - 67:29 And put your trust in Allah, for Allah is sufficient as a Trustee of Affairs. - 33:3 The similarity and most important message that those two verses want to highlight is that anything that happens around ourself, we must trust Our Creator and the process of it. No matter how challenging our problems are but Allah will ways give us ways how to overcome it. This trust is very important for students as we might questioned Him why we do not get the same thing like anyone else. But, this ayah teaches us to be patient as it can be that this delay might be better than before.  Thank you for reading my stories :))

Week 10 - QUIZ SDG

Image
Assalamualaikum and Hii Everyone !! We are having a quiz for this week as one of our assessments. This quiz carries 15% of our marks. The quiz is being conducted through google forms. It have 50 questions and majority of the questions as about the goals of the sustainable development. What I can reflect in this quiz is that the three important things for sustainable development to be successful are economic, social and environmental. I also learned that the Goal 3: Good Health and Well Being is in line with the Protection of Intellect in Maqasid Al-Shariah. The new information that I gathered from the quiz is the lungs of the earth involves the ocean along with the forests. The hydroelectric power comes from the electricity produced using the energy of rivers, streams and lakes. There are also a question where our lecturer asks about the color of the recycle bin in this country. Overall, the quiz certainly opens my eyes and encourage me to view our world in the wider perspective....

Assalamualaikum and Hii Everyone !! The class for this week talk about the sustainability in terms of the university campus. To achieve that, lecturers and students must play their role as agents of change. For the reader's information, IIUM is the first university to receive International Green Gown Award. It is such a honor to get that. It is because this university take serious on the issue involving sustainability. The six common indictors for campus sustainability are shown below:  Those six indicators are very important for the university as each indicators have their own role in achieving the sustainability. For example, the waste in the campus. Every university must have recycle bins around the university so that the people inside it will not throw the rubbish anywhere and everywhere.  Thank you for reading my stories :))

Week 8 - Roles of Insitutions for Sustainable Development

Assalamualaikum and Hii everyone!! After a week after the mid sem break, Dr required us to share our time during break and the sustainable development that happened. Majority are saying that they are in their hometown. Unfortunately, I was at the hospital within the week as I'm taking care of my mother who is having an operation. I can say that the sustainable development in the hospital is in a good condition. I can see that every corner and rooms are equipped with hand sanitizer and handwash that is in line with the Goal 3 - Good Health and Well-Being.  We are also required to wear masks every time we want to visit someone as the patient and the visitor might get affected during their visit. To relate with our university life, institutions can slowly implemented the solution in order to ensure the sustainability. But then, it must come with the challenges first in order to implement that. We can see that from the lecturer's slide, it stated that there are 6 challenges which a...

Image
Assalamualaikum and Hii Everyone!! This week I'm gonna talk about the challenges of the sustainable development. This challenges can be divided by 3 parts which are social, environmental and economic factors. Social factors mainly talk about the participation of the community where their support is needed to accomplish the targeted task. Next, environmental factors talk about methods on how we must do to protect the environment. Economic factors focuses on the economic growth which is very important to our country. We are given a task to relate all factors with our project. For our group, our challenges for social factors are the participation of our targeted community which are the residents of Mahallah Nusaibah and Mahallah Siddiq. They might not interested to be involved in this kind of project. The challenges of environmental factors are that waste from the bottle but if they use it efficiently, then it might have no problem. Our challenges to the economic factors are in terms ...

Week 6 - University Sustainable Development

Image
Assalamualaikum and Hi Everyone !! Class for this week focuses on the roles and responsibilities of university and sustainable development. It makes me think why is it important for us to study about this topic. Then, I came to realize that, time in university is one step closer to the reality of where we are gonna step into our life completely by ourself. It is because after university, we have to depend on ourself for us to completely adapt with the new environment. That's why the role of university really effects our life. This time also will decide our future generation that can turn our world in a good way or bad as they are the one who will make changes of our life. From this time we are being teached on how to maintain and protect our environment. For example, for IIUM students, it is our requirements to take the SDG subject. From that, it already fulfilling the responsibilities of the university towards the sustainability. Other universities can refer to them and implement...
